You are not supposed to understand anything that is said; this is simply meant to acquaint you with Dutch sounds. You can try to follow the Dutch transcription, but do not worry if you don't succeed. You can come back here after a few lessons and see if you recognize some words.

Voor het gebouw van de Tweede Kamer demonstreren kunstenaars tegen aanpassing van de werkeloosheidswet. Volgens de organisatoren, de Nederlandse toonkunstenaarsbond en FNV Kiem, lopen acteurs, dansers en musici de kans dat hun uitkering wordt gehalveerd. Veel kunstenaars werken onregelmatig. Ze werken maar een deel van het jaar en de rest van de tijd zijn ze aangewezen op een WW-uitkering. De kunstenaars bieden rond deze tijd een petitie aan. Vandaag vergadert de Kamer over de kwestie.		In front of the Second [Parliamentary] Chamber building, artists are protesting a change to the Unemployment Act. According to the organisers, the Dutch Musicians Union and FNV Kiem, actors, dancers and musicians are at risk of having their unemployment benefit halved. Many artists work irregularly; employed only part of the year, the rest of the time they depend on Unemployment Benefit. The artists are about to deliver a petition. Today, the Chamber will discuss the question.
Viroloog Osterhaus ziet geen reden tot paniek nu in Vietnam twee mensen door een familielid zijn besmet met vogelpest. De viroloog denkt niet dat er een epidemie zal komen, maar hij noemt de situatie wel ernstig en de gezondheidsautoriteiten moeten op hun hoede blijven. In Azië zijn n.. m.. [reader stutters] inmiddels weer twee mensen overleden aan vogelpest: een vrouw in Thailand en een jongen in Vietnam. In Thailand zijn nu tien mensen aan de ziekte overleden en in Vietnam negen. Het personeel van de Nederlandse ambassade in Bagdad komt na de aanslag op het gebouw niet terug naar Nederland. Wel zullen de medewerkers voorlopig op een andere, nog onbekende, locatie aan de slag gaan. Het ambassadegebouw in Bagdad is nog niet vrijgegeven, maar nog wel bruikbaar. Drie kamers zijn zwaar beschadigd door de granaataanval. Niemand raakte gewond, de mensen waren een uur van tevoren gewaarschuwd en konden op tijd weg.		The Baghdad Dutch embassy staff will not be returning to the Netherlands after an attack on the building. For the time being the staff will continue to work at another, as yet unnamed, location. The embassy building in Baghdad has not been cleared of debris, but is still usuable. Three rooms were heavily damaged in the grenade attack. No one was wounded, as people were warned an hour in advance and were able to leave in time.
