The Play and Game[edit | edit source]
In English «play» and «game» are two distinct words. Because of this, it is often the case that one is perplexed as to which comes first in the hierarchy of concepts. One test, with which we agree, is that applied by Huizinga, in his book Homo Ludens: all animals play; but do they all play games?
