[edit] Elk vs. Moose

This article confuses the names of large members of the deer family. This is forgivable, since the animals have different names in different places.

  • Alces alces is called a Moose in N. America and an Elk in Europe.
  • Cervus elaphus is called an Elk or Wapiti in N. America and a Red deer in Europe.
As this module was taken pretty much verbatum from a USDA article, I'm not supprised that the american usage is predominant. That does not make it confused. Gentgeen 05:05, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Picture

Is there someone out there with a better picture than an elk calf? (proper name, not fawn) The majority (99.99%) of hunters don't kill immature animals (calves, fawns, etc) , except in extremely rare cases. This gives a very inaccurate impression and seems to cater more to the anti-hunting crowd than to an honest, NPOV encyclopedic treatment. 74.237.50.152 (talk) 06:14, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
