Probably the whole section on production should be ripped out. I wasn't feeling cruel enough today, with all the destructive article deletion going on all over the place right now.

This isn't the wikipedia; a link to the wikipedia is provided. Maybe the gardening book would be a good home for info on boiling down the sap, as that is pretty much a part of the harvesting process.
