- There is an explanation if you care to read the article. Raw eggs may contain salmonella which is present in most chickens. However, whereas most chickens are asymptomatic carriers of the organism, humans are not as a rule (a famous exception was "typhoid Annie"). It is a very pathogenic organism in humans, typhoid being one of the more pathogenic strains of this species of bacterium. Mike Hayes (talk) 14:40, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
