Corned Beef is meant to be a kind of salted beef, according to the wikipedia article. This recipe seems to describe nothing more than a kind of beef marinade.

The "history" claimed in this article is utter nonsense, and does not belong in an encyclopedia. And the recipe is not much better either, the whole point is that corned beef (American style), is salt cured beef.
