Cookbook talk:Basic foodstuffs
From Wikibooks, the open-content textbooks collection
Hi all, I've got a 1992 copy of the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics from when I was in High School/College. Included in the data there is a section on USDA nutirent value of foods (which is now at least 12 years out of date, but that shouldn't change much, right?), and I've added some of the info available to the Cookbook:Honey module. What I'd like to know is would it be worth it for me to add this type of data (and more that didn't get into the honey module, like fat content, as honey has none) to the various ingredient pages. If there's support, I'll start adding it to modules that already exist. Gentgeen 11:30, 24 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- FYI, the USDA has a nutritional information search available on their website, and you can also download the data to import into your own relational database.
- If you did want to add nutritional information, it would probably be easier to copy and paste rather than type it in. But that would still be a fair bit of work, so I'm not sure whether it's worth it or not.
When refering to items in plural, is it better to have Cereals or Cereals. I personally prefer the latter. --liblamb 04:57, 8 Jul 2004 (UTC)
What is the justification for lifting the Legumes category out of Vegetables (although it is still on that page too at the moment) and placing it on the Basic_foodstuffs page? I'm not sure I agree with this move. --liblamb
Fungi are not plants.
