Cookbook talk:Basic Omelet

I've moved this to Omelette Recipe temporarily, because I didn't really know what to do with it. This doesn't really agree with any kind of omelette recipe I've ever seen, so I wouldn't know what to call it, but just removing it seems harsh. Any thoughts? risk

- True. I originally moved it to French Omelette, intending to only edit it slightly from general Omelette to French Omelette. However, as I was editing I found that I had to edit all the instructions to turn it in to a classic French omelette recipe, so I moved this here and started French Omelette from scratch. My only problem is the page title. Since the Omelette page now has a different function and this recipe doesn't signify any specific kind of omelet (to my knowledge) I coulnd't come up with a proper name. risk

- OK. This is just an Omelet. It's not French or anything else. Let's leave the complicated spelling for the French one. In general it is better to add a variation or a new recipe, unless you're sure the original just won't work. I assure you that this fairly plain and ordinary omelet is quite tasty. The only odd thing is having proportionately more egg white for better taste, nutrition, and physical characteristics. Note that omelets are generally listed on the Cookbook:Breakfast page, though maybe the Asian ones aren't served for breakfast. Also see inarizushi on the Cookbook:Sushi page. - I'm with risk - this is not an omelet recipe. It may make a very tasty egg dish, but you'll have to invent a new name for it. It's not how an omelet is prepared -

This guy wants us to put a nonstick pan on a freaking 500 degree F grill? I just so happen to be living in the great US, and a grill is something entirely different from what the English call a "grill". Here we call it a broiler. And just so you know, if I tried to put a nonstick pan on an "American" grill, I'd be eating a Teflon flavored omelet. AltonBrownIsAwesome (talk) 03:00, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
