Cookbook talk:Aloo gobi

Is there a reason this page's title is lowercased (rather than Aloo Gobi)? Kellen 19:02, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
This recipe contains ghee, aka clarified butter, which is certainly not vegan. Can the recipe be modified to use a substitute or should it be removed from the vegan cookbook entirely?
- I previously provided a vegan variation in the "variations" section, which simply substitutes oil or melted margarine for the ghee. There's not much special about ghee. This variation was removed by Albert with the note that the substitution is obvious. I also think it's obvious, but I'm not quite sure if we should/how we should provide per-recipe variations for ingredients like ghee, or if we should expect vegans to figure it out. Personaly, I would prefer adding a link or note in the area about the possible substitutions. I am by no means a vegan, but I have a daughter with a mil allergy and I find browsing vegan cookbooks the safest place to find a good, new meal. THAT SAID I jumped onto the discussion page to make a note about ghee not being vegan only to find it was noticed. I was not aware of the substitution, although it does seem obvious. A simple link would be appropriate, I believe.
