Toast generally consists of toasted bread with a topping.
Toast often goes well with milk, especially with honey or jam as the topping. Toast generally goes well with breakfast foods, particularly eggs and either bacon or sausage. In this case one might prefer to have orange juice with toast.
A particularly good combination of toppings is butter with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. The butter should be well-spread and well-melted first, so that the cinnamon and sugar will stick to the toast. Try using about 2 tablespoons of sugar and ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon for each slice of bread.
Butter would be the best topping choice when using raisin bread to make toast.

[edit] Procedure
- Ensure that the toaster is plugged in, generally clean, and functional.
- Place some bread slices into the toaster. Usually, you must place each slice into a separate slot. Some toasters can hold two slices in an extra-wide slot. If you use a toaster oven, you may need to lay the bread slices flat on a metal grill inside the toaster oven.
- If the toaster has a darkness control, adjust it as desired.
- Activate the toaster.
- Watch the bread turn into toast. If it starts to get excessively dark, carefully remove the toast. If you are unable to make the toast pop out, unplug the toaster. Do not reach into a slotted toaster, whether with your hand or a metal tool, while it is plugged in or very hot.
- Spread your choice of topping on the toast with a knife, spatula, or spoon.
[edit] Variations
- The bread crust can be cut off after the toast has been cooked. The topping can be added to both sides.
- Replace bread slices with a bagel or English muffin cut across the axis.
- Replace each slice of bread with a waffle or scone.
