Halvah (alva) is an/a asian/turkish/east-european/middle eastern food made mostly from sugar and sesame seed (taan, tahan or tahini halvah). Several varieties of halvah are made from only sugar and flour. Most varieties of Halvah from the Balkan peninsula.

Indian varieties include a base of shredded carrot, chickpea flour, or cream of wheat.
