Garlic Press
Garlic being crushed using a garlic press.

A garlic press is a small kitchen tool designed to simplify the process of crushing a clove of garlic. It is a hinged device. The garlic clove is put into a containing section and when the arms of the press are closed, the clove is crushed and the pulp is forced out through a grating.

It may be useful if you have to crush a lot of cloves in a short time, but for one or two cloves, better results are obtained by crushing them between the blade of a knife and a chopping board.

I personally (this is just me) think that garlic presses are unitaskers and that if you really need something else than a knife to mince garlic, use your food processor. But do whatever you want.
