Suriname is a South American country which has Guyana, Brazil and French Guyana as its neighbors. It is the only Dutch speaking country in South America, and it considers itself a member of the Caribbean. Suriname has been a member of the Caribbean community (Caricom) since 1994. Suriname is a mix of different cultures including, Dutch, French, English, Spanish, Javanese, Chinese, Creole, Indian and many others. The cuisine of Suriname is therefore also very diverse and very wonderful.
