Procedure[edit | edit source]

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
  2. Boil yams in skins until about half done.
  3. Drain water from yams, remove skins, and cut in cubes.
  4. Place yam cubes in a greased baking dish and dot with margarine.
  5. Make a syrup by boiling brown sugar, water, and vanilla together. Pour over the yams.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, basting frequently with syrup, until yams are tender.
