Even, when apple iPod was doubtful first came about into existence since '01 and with my kinfolks using them, I believe they just now entered my own transcending plateau ecosphere of experiences when I was coerced by some outfit in getting their books-seminars on tape rather MP3 or iPod.

Where is it useful you dare say? Driving long distance cross-country, on an airplane, listening to cross-hair focus and fuse with target goal or outcome, listen blanket-shot diffuse focus 'bout target or watch out. And, so on and so forth. Backseat of the car.

Why even bother dealing? Because it exist, dealing with sounds, that is.
