The units command can output or set the current units of distance measurement used by the system:

Determining the units of measure

Without a parameter, the units command outputs the current units of measurement:

units
You are now editing in 'cm'.  1 cm = 10 mm

Setting the units of measure

The units command can take a parameter that changes the current units of measurement:

units in
You are now editing in 'in'.  1 in = 25.4 mm
