To change transmission fluid you will need:

  1. Transmission fluid
  2. Drain pan
  3. Wrench or applicable size socket

Assuming you don't have a sealed transmission (in other words there's a transmission dip stick), ensure the transmission has cooled down.

WARNING fluid is hot.

  1. Ensure transmission is level.
  2. Remove drain plug (the plug is normally on the transmission).
  3. Drain into pan.
  4. Reinstall plug.
  5. Refill to specified level.
  6. Normally, the correct process is to check the fluid levels while hot and with the engine running.
