Back to The Whitlam - Fraser Era

The 1980s have been described by some as a decade of excess. Australian entrepreneurs including Alan Bond, and Christopher Skase would rise to prominence and acclaim during the decade when "greed was good". However, the excesses would end following the 1987 Stockmarket Crash, and the recession which followed in its wake. It was also a decade which, under the Hawke / Keating Federal Government, saw significant economic reforms, which would continue into the 1990s.
