[edit] What is Asymetric Warfare

The nature of warfare is changing. Traditional warfare, with accepted rules of engagement, has given way to unconventional, asymmetrical warfare. Asymmetric warfare is conflict which deviates from the norm. Non state actors who can not match a state's military capabilities resort to asymmetric warfare to counterbalance their lack of conventional weapons and forces. Since the events of September 11, 2001 the U.S. has been engaged in an unconventional war.
