Time is a fundamental quantity in physics, and nearly all of our equations deal either directly or indirectly with the passage of time.

A solar day is when the earth rotates so that the sun is in the same location in the sky. A solar day is more than a 360° rotation. A solar day is divided into 24 hours.

The sidereal day is when the earth makes one complete rotation. A sidereal day is shorter than a solar day. A sidereal day is 23 hours and 56 minutes long.

Universal Time is the time at the Prime Meridian.
