Akkadian is the oldest attested Semitic language and remained in use for thousands of years as a written and spoken language. It is attested in many different dialects - Old Akkadian (Sargonic Akkadian), Old Assyrian, Middle Assyrian, Neo-Assyrian, Old Baylonian, Middle Babylonian, and Neo-Babylonian. This book will focus on the Old Babylonian dialect.
