1. Have the Tumbling and Balancing honor.[edit | edit source]

Instructions and tips for earning the Tumbling & Balancing honor can be found in the Recreation chapter.

2. Perform the following individual tumbling stunts with form and poise[edit | edit source]

a. Kip[edit | edit source]

b. One-handed Cartwheel (both ways)[edit | edit source]

c. Front handspring[edit | edit source]

d. Back handspring[edit | edit source]

e. Round off (must execute step in the approach)[edit | edit source]

3. Perform any four of the following individual tumbling stunts with form and poise.[edit | edit source]

a. Front somersault (sometimes called air spring or front flip)[edit | edit source]

b. Headspring[edit | edit source]

c. One-handed handspring[edit | edit source]

d. Aerial cartwheel[edit | edit source]

An aerial cartwheel is a cartwheel without the hands. When you do it, you will need to jump higher because gravity will take you into the ground. Be sure to do this move with a spotter at first.

e. Tinsica[edit | edit source]

A tinsica is a walkover where the hands and feet are placed in progression, i.e. hand, hand, foot, foot. Starts out as a cartwheel and then the body is twisted to end as a front walk-over.

f. Front walkover[edit | edit source]

Like a very slow front handspring. Hands down, feet over, stand up.

g. Back walkover[edit | edit source]

h. Aerial walkover[edit | edit source]

i. Baroni[edit | edit source]

j. Neckspring[edit | edit source]

This is a very dangerous move, done on a vault. It was banned by the National Gymnastics Association when so many girls hurt or paralyzed themselves on this move.

k. Butterfly[edit | edit source]

4. Perform any three of the following balances with form and poise[edit | edit source]

a. Press to handstand from headstand or frogstand.[edit | edit source]

b. One-handed handstand; alternate for girls: back walkover to headstand[edit | edit source]

c. Pirouette[edit | edit source]

d. Straight-armed planche (two arm); alternate for girls: control straddle down from handstand.[edit | edit source]

e. Bent arm planche (one arm); alternate for girls: three-second handstand and controlled roll out.[edit | edit source]

f. Yogi handstand[edit | edit source]

g. Straight arm-straight leg press to handstand; alternate for girls: straight arm-straddle leg press to handstand.[edit | edit source]

5. Perform any three of the following partner stunts and balances with form and poise[edit | edit source]

a. Toe pitch (back flip)[edit | edit source]

b. Low arm to arm[edit | edit source]

Start out as a knee shoulder. The performer should be able to put her hands on the base's arms and be able to balance.

c. High arm to arm[edit | edit source]

d. Low hand to hand[edit | edit source]

The flier and base need to know how to do a two high with the base in a kneeling position. From there, the base will tell the flier ready and then the flier will need to push themselves into a handstand.

e. High hand to hand[edit | edit source]

Low hand to hand and high hand to hand are basically the same except that the base takes a standing position.

f. Front angel balance on hands[edit | edit source]

The base will take the flier's waist, and the flier will put her hands on the base's shoulders. The base will lift the flier over his head, and the flier will tighten body and take her hands off.

6. Perform any one of the following combination stunts with form and poise[edit | edit source]

a. Round off/back handspring/backward somersault[edit | edit source]

b. Round off/two back handsprings[edit | edit source]

c. Borani/back handspring[edit | edit source]

d. Round off/backward somersault/back handspring[edit | edit source]

e. Tinsica/front somersault[edit | edit source]

f. Backward somersault/back handspring[edit | edit source]
